Stand Tending

Stand tending is a subset of silviculture that includes a variety of forest treatments, including pre-commercial thinning, pruning and commercial thinning. These activities are carried out to maintain a healthy forest and to increase the quality and quantity of timber produced.

As an organization, we have developed considerable expertise in juvenile spacing, spacing, pre-commercial and commercial thinning. Generally, these projects consist of targeted cuttings in immature and mature stands, with the objective of reducing stand density, targeting designated species, layers and/or diseased trees, to stimulate the health and growth rate of a given stand.
